Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, has appointed Harshavardhan Chitale as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective January 5, 2026. The appointment was approved by the company’s Board of Directors.

With over three decades of global leadership experience spanning industrial automation, lighting, IT services, and digital transformation, Chitale brings a strong track record of driving growth, profitability, and large-scale transformation across both B2B and B2C sectors. He has held senior roles in multinational corporations across India, the U.S., and Europe, combining a global perspective with deep knowledge of India’s business landscape.

Announcing the appointment, Dr. Pawan Munjal, Executive Chairman, Hero MotoCorp, said:

Leadership Track Record

  • Global CEO, Signify’s Professional Business: Led a €4 billion enterprise with 12,000 employees across 70 countries, doubling profitability, driving digital transformation, and launching over 100 IoT-enabled lighting products annually.

  • Vice Chairman & MD, Philips Lighting India: Successfully executed the company’s spin-off into a standalone public entity, cementing market leadership.

  • CEO & Board Member, HCL Infosystems and Honeywell Automation India: Spearheaded growth and delivered shareholder value through transformative strategies.

An IIT Delhi alumnus and recipient of the Director’s Gold Medal, Chitale is also an active angel investor in sectors such as EVs, clean energy, health-tech, and agri-tech.

Smooth Leadership Transition

As part of the transition, Vikram Kasbekar, who served as Acting CEO, will work alongside Chitale to ensure a seamless handover. Kasbekar will continue in his role as Executive Director and Chief Technology Officer, with the Board extending its gratitude for his leadership during the interim period.

With Chitale at the helm, Hero MotoCorp is aiming to accelerate its journey into electric mobility, digitalization, and premium two-wheelers, while strengthening its leadership in the global two-wheeler industry.
