Ducati Goes Full Renaissance for Mugello: Bagnaia and Márquez Ride into Battle as Modern-Day Knights

Ducati’s home GP just got a dose of art, history, and raw Italian soul. For the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello, the Ducati Lenovo Team rolled out a head-turning livery inspired by the Italian Renaissance, merging motorsport muscle with artistic mastery.

This year’s special edition paint job is more than just eye candy. It’s a full-blown tribute to Italy’s golden age of creativity, bringing together racing, culture, and storytelling like only Ducati can. Created by legendary designer Aldo Drudi and Renaissance historian Marcello Simonetta, the livery reimagines Pecco Bagnaia and Marc Márquez as modern-day knights, and their Desmosedici GP bikes as the new-age warhorses charging through Tuscany.

The theme? A Renaissance revival—where art meets science, beauty blends with technology, and Italian excellence takes center stage.

Drudi’s design draws from Leonardo da Vinci’s “Ancient Captain,” with reinterpreted lion and fox motifs on the bikes representing strength and smarts—a nod to Machiavelli’s famous playbook from The Prince. It’s not just paint—it’s philosophy on wheels.

To bring the vision to life, Ducati even staged a cinematic teaser shot in Florence’s iconic Stibbert Museum. Bagnaia and Márquez ditch the leathers for armor, stepping into the world of Renaissance nobility before transforming into knights of speed, racing through the grandeur of Piazza della Signoria with Michelangelo’s David watching on.

It’s a bold move, turning Mugello into a moving canvas—but Ducati’s no stranger to going big at home. Last year, the team paid homage to Italy’s iconic Azzurro blue. This year, they’ve taken it up a notch with a livery that isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about legacy.

In true Ducati fashion, the special edition blends power, precision, and poise, making the Desmosedici GPs not just race bikes, but rolling works of art. And as they line up on the grid at Mugello, you can bet this visual tribute will be turning heads long before the lights go out.
