Ducati Begins Production of the First-Ever Desmo450 MX Motocross Bike
A Historic Milestone: The Desmo450 MX Rolls Off the Production Line in Borgo Panigale

Ducati proudly marks a major milestone with the launch of the Desmo450 MX, the first motocross bike in the company’s history. Production officially began at Ducati’s iconic Borgo Panigale factory, just days after Jeremy Seewer secured a second consecutive world podium at the French Grand Prix.
This momentous occasion was celebrated in the presence of motocross legend Tony Cairoli, who played a key role in developing the bike, and Alessandro Lupino, the rider who gave the Desmo450 MX its debut win and national title.
Performance Meets Precision
The Desmo450 MX has been engineered from the ground up to deliver exceptional performance, combining power, agility, and reliability. Designed for professionals and passionate amateurs, it offers a riding experience that inspires confidence and allows riders to push their limits.
Powered by a 449.6 cc Ducati single-cylinder engine with Desmodromic valve timing, the Desmo450 MX stands out in the off-road segment. Its refined power delivery provides strong torque at low and mid RPMs, combined with class-leading high-end performance, making it easier to maximize each gear, whether off the line or through tight corners.

Lightweight Engineering & Cutting-Edge Technology
The lightweight aluminum frame, designed with minimal welds, ensures structural rigidity while keeping the bike light and durable. But what truly sets the Desmo450 MX apart is its electronic innovation. It is the first motocross bike in the world equipped with Traction Control capable of precisely analyzing and adapting to actual rear wheel slip, optimizing performance without interfering during high-demand riding phases.
A New Chapter for Ducati Off-Road

The Desmo450 MX represents the first in a new range of dedicated off-road models from Ducati. It is a bold step into a new segment, designed to reach a new generation of riders and grow the global Ducatisti community.
“We wanted to bring the essence of Ducati to the world of motocross,” says Claudio Domenicali, Ducati CEO.
“What defines us is the unique connection between racing and production motorcycles. We also discovered a strong passion for off-road riding within our own team—this enthusiasm helped shape the Desmo450 MX into a bike that’s both high-performance and easy to ride.”
The Desmo450 MX is Ducati’s answer to the call of the dirt, delivering world-class engineering, cutting-edge technology, and unmatched riding enjoyment—both on the track and beyond.
