Tata Motors Launches State-of-the-Art Vehicle Scrapping Facility in Kolkata
New Re.Wi.Re Centre Strengthens Commitment to Sustainable Mobility and Circular Economy
Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has inaugurated a cutting-edge Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Kolkata, further expanding its commitment to sustainability and responsible end-of-life vehicle (ELV) management. This marks the launch of Tata Motors’ eighth RVSF in India, under Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect, with an annual capacity to dismantle up to 21,000 vehicles, including passenger and commercial vehicles, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers from all brands.

The facility will be operated in partnership with Selladale Synergies India Pvt. Ltd.

This new Kolkata RVSF becomes the third Re.Wi.Re facility in eastern India, joining Tata Motors’ growing network of scrapping centres in Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, Delhi NCR, Pune, and Guwahati.
Driving Change Through Sustainable Practices
Speaking at the event, Mr. Snehasis Chakraborty remarked,
“The launch of Tata Motors’ Re.Wi.Re is a progressive move toward a cleaner, safer and more efficient transport ecosystem. It promotes the adoption of modern vehicles and contributes to a circular economy, while also creating new employment opportunities for the region.”
Mr. Firhad Hakim added,
“This facility is a vital step in sustainable urban development. Tata Motors’ initiative not only reduces environmental burden but also aligns with our vision of improved well-being for the people of West Bengal.”
Mr. Rajesh Kaul emphasized the company’s vision,
“We are proud to lead India’s vehicle scrapping transformation. With eight RVSFs across the country and a combined capacity to dismantle over 130,000 vehicles annually, we are advancing a scrappage ecosystem focused on safety, compliance, and sustainability.”

Each Re.Wi.Re facility is fully digital and paperless, featuring:

Cell-type dismantling for commercial vehicles, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers

Dedicated dismantling stations for safe removal and disposal of tyres, batteries, fluids, oils, and gases

Compliance with India’s official Vehicle Scrappage Policy
