JK Tyre Launches India’s First Passenger Car Tyre with ISCC Plus Certified Sustainable Materials
Production begins at the Chennai facility, marking a major step in green innovation and circular economy leadership
JK Tyre & Industries Ltd., a pioneer in tyre innovation, has launched India’s first passenger car radial tyre made using ISCC Plus-certified sustainable materials. The new UX Royale Green, produced at the company’s state-of-the-art Chennai facility, is a significant leap toward environmentally responsible mobility.
This development underscores JK Tyre’s long-standing commitment to green technology and carbon footprint reduction. The ISCC Plus certification—awarded under the globally recognised International Sustainability and Carbon Certification framework—verifies the use of traceable, renewable, and recycled raw materials in tyre production.
Originally conceptualised in August 2023, the UX Royale Green tyre incorporates 80% sustainable content, including bio-attributed polymers, renewable oils, recycled rubber powder, recovered carbon black, recycled polyester, and steel wire. These materials are carefully sourced following circular manufacturing principles.
Backed by over a decade of R&D at JK Tyre’s Global Tech Centre, the UX Royale Green is the result of continuous innovation to replace conventional petroleum-based materials with sustainable alternatives, without compromising on performance or safety.
