Aptiv Opens New Technical Center in Chennai to Accelerate Software-Defined Vehicle Innovation
Global technology leader Aptiv PLC (NYSE: APTV) has inaugurated a new Software, Advanced Safety & User Experience (AS&UX) Technical Center in Chennai, reinforcing its commitment to India as a hub for automotive innovation.
Spanning over 34,000 sq. ft., the state-of-the-art facility will host up to 500 engineers by 2026, focusing on software-defined vehicle technologies, ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), and in-cabin perception platforms. Equipped with AI/ML-powered labs and cutting-edge test infrastructure, the center is set to drive localization of advanced safety and user experience solutions for Indian automakers.
The inauguration was attended by senior industry leaders, including Javed Khan, Executive Vice President and President of AS&UX at Aptiv, and R. Velusamy, President, Automotive Business (Designate), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., and MD, Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd.
“This center strengthens our ability to localize AI/ML-powered ADAS and in-cabin sensing technologies for the Indian market,” said Javed Khan. “It reflects our confidence in India’s engineering talent and our commitment to building a safer, smarter mobility future in collaboration with local customers.”
This is Aptiv’s fourth technical center in India, complementing its extensive operations that already include eight manufacturing plants, four R&D facilities, and a tooling center, with more than 13,000 employees nationwide.
