WATTSync: A Digital Battery Passport for the Future of Mobility

Tata Technologies Unveils WATTSync: A Digital Battery Passport for Smarter, Sustainable Mobility

Tata Technologies, a global leader in product engineering and digital services, has launched WATTSync, a secure and scalable digital battery passport solution designed to enhance sustainability, traceability, and compliance across the entire battery lifecycle—from mining and manufacturing to mobility and recycling.

Positioned as a game-changer in the EV and industrial battery ecosystem, WATTSync addresses the growing global demand for transparency and accountability in battery production and use. The platform captures and validates real-time data on materials, performance, carbon footprint, and recycling status, while enabling secure, role-based access for OEMs, suppliers, auditors, and regulators.

Built on a robust digital thread that integrates PLM, MES, ERP, and cloud data lakes, WATTSync leverages AI to monitor health and anomalies, predict potential issues, and simplify audits through guided, multilingual assistance. Blockchain technology ensures tamper-proof integrity, while its cloud-agnostic architecture supports global scalability.

With the EU mandating digital battery passports from February 2027, and India signaling its intent to adopt similar frameworks, Tata Technologies’ solution arrives at a crucial time. WATTSync empowers manufacturers to move early, ensuring faster compliance, reduced risk through verified sourcing, improved circularity with second-life applications, and smarter design decisions driven by AI-led insights.

Speaking at the launch, Tata Technologies emphasized its vision: “When you can trace it, you can trust it.” WATTSync, the company says, is more than a compliance tool—it’s a step toward building a resilient, transparent, and sustainable future for global mobility.
