Montra Electric has taken a significant step towards accelerating electric freight mobility in India by commencing deliveries of its Rhino 5538 EV heavy-duty electric truck. The first batch of vehicles has been flagged off from the company’s manufacturing facility in Manesar, marking the beginning of a phased large-scale deployment across key industrial sectors.
The rollout reflects the growing shift in India’s commercial vehicle industry from pilot electric truck deployments to full-scale commercial adoption. With fleet operators increasingly embracing zero-emission transport solutions, Montra Electric has expanded production of the Rhino platform to cater to rising demand and a growing order pipeline.
Designed for high-utilisation freight applications, the Rhino 5538 EV is engineered to deliver strong performance, dependable reliability and a competitive total cost of ownership. The truck is aimed at sectors such as cement, steel, mining, construction materials, infrastructure and other heavy-duty logistics operations where productivity and durability remain critical.
The initial dispatch marks the first phase of deliveries, with additional units set to be deployed across multiple industrial corridors in the coming months. The large-scale rollout is expected to support fleet electrification while contributing to cleaner and more sustainable freight transportation across India.
