Upcoming Tata Sierra SUV Revealed in Patent Image

After its confirmation at Auto Expo 2023 in January, the return of the Sierra SUV seems to have progressed with the emergence of a patent image showcasing the production version. The anticipated comeback in 2025 will offer the Sierra with both electric and internal combustion powertrain options.

The patent images reveal that the new Tata Sierra maintains the essence of the Auto Expo concept. The upright nose features a distinct line separating the front bumper, faux skid plate, and wide grille. The split headlamp setup positions the main headlamps just above the grille, accompanied by a wide LED lightbar, a prominent Tata logo, and a flat bonnet with vertical creases at each end.

On the sides, rectangular wheel arches with contrast body cladding continue, and the production model displays additional body cladding on doors and running boards, connecting seamlessly with the wheel arches. Unique creases adorn both doors, creating a strong shoulder line from the rear door to the fender and merging with the tail-lamps.

The glasshouse retains the concept’s design, featuring a unique B-pillar design and quarter glass with touches reminiscent of the facelifted Harrier and Safari. While the rear styling isn’t visible in the patent image, it is expected to resemble the concept with realistic modifications to the rear bumper, tail-lamp area, and other details.

Regarding powertrain options, specific details remain scarce, but an electric variant is confirmed. Similar to Tata Motors’ approach with the Curvv, the Sierra may launch as an EV first, followed by the ICE version later. Tata Motors is currently focused on launching the Punch EV, Harrier EV, and the Curvv, with more details on the Sierra expected closer to its 2025 market launch.
