Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) is celebrating a major milestone — ten years of the Hyundai CRETA, the SUV that redefined the mid-size segment in India and set benchmarks year after year. Since its launch in July 2015, the CRETA has not only led the pack but has created a legacy that resonates with over 1.2 million Indian households.

From being Hyundai’s bold bet in the mid-SUV space to becoming a market-defining product, the CRETA has earned the moniker of the “Undisputed Ultimate SUV.” Such has been its dominance that the mid-SUV space is often casually referred to as the “CRETA segment” — a testament to its popularity and consistent performance.

Built in India and exported to over 13 countries, the Hyundai CRETA has found global acclaim with more than 2.87 lakh units exported so far. It is available in Petrol, Diesel, Turbo, and Electric powertrain options, paired with both manual and automatic transmissions, offering something for everyone.
A Brand That Evolves with Its Buyers
Hyundai hasn’t just ridden the wave — it created it. From launching special editions like the Knight Edition and Adventure Edition, to upgrading feature sets in tune with evolving buyer preferences, the CRETA has constantly reinvented itself. Its positioning has evolved too — from “The Perfect SUV” in 2015, to “The Ultimate SUV” in 2020, and now “The Undisputed Ultimate SUV” in 2024.
Today, 70% of CRETA buyers opt for sunroof variants, pointing to the SUV’s premium appeal. Inside, buyers enjoy features like connected tech, advanced ADAS, wireless charging, and more — all wrapped in a premium, spacious cabin.
